RULES & GUIDELINES
The Song Competition is for songs that have NOT been published or released under contract with a third (3rd) party (for example, under contract with a record label). Songwriter(s) retain all rights to the song(s) submitted. Songs that have been co-written by multiple songwriters, will be accepted.
JUDGING (Round 1)
A panel of judges, with songwriting and music industry experience, will select twelve (12) song finalists from the entries submitted through this registration process. Each song will be judged on lyrics, melody, originality, marketability and overall composition. Judges TBA
REGISTRATION FEE & DEADLINE
Registration fee is $20 per song entry
Registration deadline is Sunday April 22, 2018

Song Finalists will perform on the main stage 2:00-4:00pm, Saturday, May 12, 2018. All performances must be acoustic or as "unplugged" as possible. Hand drum (cajon) is permitted. Full drum kits are NOT permitted. In the event a song finalist cannot perform at the festival, a runner up may be chosen.
JUDGING (Round 2)
A panel of judges with songwriting and music industry experience will select the winning three (3) songs. Each song in the finals will be judged on lyrics, melody, originality, marketability and overall composition.
1st, 2nd and 3rd place songs will be announced and prizes awarded on the main stage by 4:30pm Saturday May 12, 2018.
1st Place - Best Overall Song $300
2nd Place - $200
3rd Place - $100
PRIZES - 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will receive:
1. Local Licks T-shirt
2. Thirty (30) minute interview on Local Licks Songwriter Sessions on Z98.5FM WZLQ, featuring your musical journey, stories behind your songs and your original music Tupelo MS (hosted by Michaela Compton)
3. Guaranteed Gigs

Local Licks Songwriter Night at Blue Canoe (hosted by Michaela Compton)
South Main Sounds Songwriter Night, Memphis TN (hosted by Mark Parsell)
1st PLACE also receives:

2. Two hours studio time provided by Farmhouse Studio, Moscow TN

Finalists will be invited to perform again Sunday May 13, 2018. Sunday’s performance is not mandatory.
